A GROUP of local singers and readers will present a specially compiled set of reflections on the events of Holy Week in music and words at St James's Church on Maundy Thursday, April 12, at 7.30pm.
Palm and Cross relates the events from Palm Sunday to Easter through a series of eight musical and dramatic settings. The music is by St James's organist, John Raine, and the musicians (eight local singers, St James's vicar Rev Richard Rosoman on trumpet and John Raine on keyboards) are directed by Lyn Lindner, director of music at St James' School.
Five musical sections will be interspersed with dramatic interludes by member of the congregation.
They have been written by teacher Gwyn Klee, whose recent presentation on the pilgrim road to Santiago de Compostela was an outstanding success.
The production will last about an hour and will be followed by a short celebration of Holy Communion.
We have been asked by the pupils of the village school to thank St James's Church for a charming Mother's Day gesture.
After they had taken part in the Mothering Sunday service, the children were given bunches of daffodils to give to their own mothers. A lot of happy mums in West Malvern that day!
