I HOPE other wheelchair users will not be deterred by Mr Hughcock's criticism of the wheelchair places in Malvern Theatre. I too remember the situation before the renovation, the hazardous slope to the side door and the rake to the back of the stalls were a hard push for my attendant. Now I can hear better and feel less remote.
It is obvious that a fine old building does impose restrictions on the renovator, but the access and the toilet facilities are equal to more modern buildings - Chichester or the Warwick Arts Centre for example.
As a minority member of society, I do not expect perfection. I feel privileged to be able to enjoy so much excellent theatre at Malvern and I am very appreciative of the unfailing courtesy and kindness of the staff.
MARGARET WOODS, Peacock Close, Newent.
