FAN power can play a massive part in willing Hereford United to their first major cup final -- says Bulls director of football Graham Turner.
United expect a crowd of around 5,000 at Edgar Street for tomorrow's second leg of their FA Umbro Trophy semi-final against Forest Green Rovers (3pm), which is evenly poised at 2-2 from the first leg.
With a Villa Park final on May 13 in prospect, Turner is confident the United masses will have something to celebrate come tomorrow evening.
He said: "They generally turn out in numbers for these games, and for big cup ties here they usually get behind the players, and that will be very important.
"Getting in excess of 4,000 is a possibility and if we get above that, we will be delighted."
The players will also have a key role, but Turner must do without the experience of midfielder Ian Rodgerson, who starts a three-match suspension for his sending-off at Leigh RMI two weeks ago.
Jimmy Quiggin, however, is hopeful of being fit after missing the last two games with a slight hamstring strain.
Turner, who made several changes for the 1-0 home defeat against Woking in midweek, is likely to revert to his strongest possible line-up.
He said: "It's an opportunity for the players to go out and excel and to achieve something. They know how important this game is for everyone connected with the club."
The Bulls boss is looking forward to the prospect of returning to Villa Park, where he spent two years as manager during the 1980s, although Forest Green's joint bosses, Nigel Spink and ex-Bulls skipper David Norton, have equal determination to do so as they are both former Villa players.
Turner added: "The prospect of going to Villa Park for a final is a terrific, attractive prospect, although it would have been even nicer to go to Wembley.
"But Forest Green are no mugs as we found out last week -- they have a lot of experience in their side."
Rob Elmes, who scored both goals in last week's first leg, added: "The Trophy is vital to us because it keeps our season alive and we know how much going to Villa Park would mean to our supporters. We're very lucky to have such great supporters and I would think we'll have a crowd of 5,000-plus.
"Forest Green did well in the second-half last week, but we're confident we can see them off tomorrow."
Ryman League giant-killers Canvey Island lead 2-0 going into the second leg of the other semi-final at Chester City.
