ROD Argent and Colin Blunstone, leading lights of 60s pop legends The Zombies, have joined forces for the first time in over 30 years to record a new album, Out of the Shadows.
They are celebrating their renewed collaboration by going out on the road - including a gig at Huntingdon Hall, Worcester, tomorrow (Saturday) at 8pm.
The Zombies - whose hits included She's Not There and Time of the Season - have continued to exert an enduring influence down the years; last year's Mercury Prize-winner Badly Drawn Boy cited them as an inspiration.
The album, released this week, came about after Rod and Colin were present at a fundraising gig and found themselves performing together. One thing led to another and they started working on an album of Rod's new songs.
The album, ranges across the soul/rhythm and blues/jazz territory which has always represented the diverse musical influence of both men. Joining them at Huntingdon Hall will be guitarist Mark Johns and father-and-son Jim Rodford on bass and Steve Rodford on drums.
