6 YOUR correspondent E F Showell asks about the West Midlands Constitutional Convention (WMCC).
The WMCC has been set up with the aim of conducting research into, and stimulating debate about, democratically-accountable regional governance in the West Midlands.
This includes, but is not limited to, the possibility of a directly-elected assembly. The research programme will be overseen by John Mawson, Professor of Public Policy Management at the Aston University Business School.
Several other English regions have established constitutional conventions or campaign organisations with similar aims.
PAUL H GRIFFITHS,
Worcester Liberal Democrats.
