MALVERN Horticultural Society's show proved "a real festival of spring", according to organisers with gardeners producing a magnificent display of flowers.
Christ Church hall, in Avenue Road, was the venue for the Spring Show last Saturday and show manager Dr Tony Hughes said he was particularly pleased with the presence of some new exhibitors, who found themselves among the honours.
"In spite of spectacular hailstorms a couple of days before, the daffodils, narcissi and other garden flowers were excellent," he said.
The H G Hall Cup for most points in the flowers section went to Beryl Crump; the Mrs H T Trigg Cup for most points in the cakes and preserves section went to Gay Tustin and the Malvern Wells Garden Club Cup for best exhibit in the flowers section went to Bob and May Ball for their pot of clivia "bursting with brilliant orange flowers".
The society's next show will be their summer one on Saturday, August 4, at The Chase high school hall.
