MALVERN Squash Club First team are the champions of Worcestershire's Division Three with 14 wins in 16 matches. Their star player, Kevin Sandercock, was voted the league's outstanding player after his 15 wins in the season.
In the last match of the season they came up against Cannons of Worcester, whom they had beaten 5-0 only the previous week. This time their opponents fielded a very different team.
Sandercock was Malvern only winner in a 4-1 defeat, an exceptional victory that secured him the trophy.
RESULTS: Andy Lawson bt Sam Broad 9-1, 10-8, 9-6; Frank Norton bt Robin Broad 9-6, 9-2, 6-9, 3-9, 9-1; Richard Coleman lost to Kevin Sandercock 9-3, 9-3, 3-9, 9-10, 4-9; Peter Evans bt George Leeds 9-6, 9-4, 3-9, 9-0; Steve Humphrey bt Lorraine Wilde 9-6, 9-4, 9-5.
