PROVIDING support for local farmers stuggling in the face of foot and mouth disease is the target of a new appeal.
The Three Counties Agricultural Society is launching an appeal to provide financial support for farmers, headed by its president Sally Clive and backed by the most senior figures in the organisation.
The Stress in the Countryside Appeal is being run in association with the Malvern Gazette & Ledbury Reporter, together with sister Newsquest Midlands titles, including the Worcester Evening News and Berrow's Worcester Journal.
A series of fundraising events is being planned leading up to the Three Counties Summer Show in August, where the appeal will culminate.
Organisers are pledging to donate 100 per cent of funds collected to individuals and businesses hit by the current situation. Distribution will be through the Rural Stress Support Networks operating in Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire.
Details of the appeal and how to donate will appear in next week's Gazette & Reporter.
"In line with our charitable objects, we are committed to generating awareness for the plight of those worst hit by the foot and mouth crisis and helping those in genuine need," said TCAS chief executive Chris Milne.
