A WORCESTER man has been jailed for 15 months for "glassing" his girlfriend in a drunken rage because she refused to give him more money for drink.
Worcester Crown Court was told it wasn't the first time that 27-year-old Michael Dutfield had been in court for attacks on women.
Dutfield admitted assaulting Barbara Finch causing actual bodily harm.
Samantha Crabb, prosecuting, said Dutfield was in a relationship with Miss Finch and became involved in a heavy drinking session with a male friend.
She left the flat they shared when he fetched 12 cans of lager early in the morning.
Dutfield, of White Ladies Close, Barbourne, continued drinking in a pub and returned to the flat in the afternoon where he demanded more money from Miss Finch.
When she refused, he shoved a glass into her face, causing a cut, which needed four stitches.
Police later found him hiding in a neighbouring flat but could not find the glass.
He admitted losing his temper with Miss Finch but claimed he had not deliberately pushed the glass into her face.
Sukhjinder Sahota, defending, said Dutfield had an alcohol problem and regretted his action, which was a spontaneous attack.
While he had been in prison, his victim had written saying she had forgiven him although she was now with someone else.
Judge Marten Coates said it was fortunate that Miss Finch's injuries were not more serious. It was the third time Dutfield had attacked a woman and the second time he had used a glass.
