A WORCESTER teenager involved in a fracas outside a city nightclub was charged two months later after a sharp-eyed police officer recognised her from a CCTV shot.
Paula Slemp was captured on camera fighting with her friend outside Tramps in Angel Place.
Droitwich Magistrates Court heard that police officers had arrived outside the nightclub at 3.30am on August 12 last year and dealt with various people at the scene, including 19-year-old Slemp.
"The incident was captured on CCTV and due to the coverage the defendant's involvement in the offence was disclosed," said Kiernan Cunningham, prosecuting.
Punching
"She was seen to be on top of a female who was on the ground and punching the female while on the pavement. The defendant was spoken to by a police officer at the scene but was not arrested then.
"An officer who attended the incident later viewed the CCTV and, after watching the video, she was reported for the offence of affray."
Slemp, of Troutbeck Drive, Warndon, admitted a charge of affray when she appeared before the court.
Defence solicitor David Jackson said a number of people had been involved in the incident, and Slemp had not been the main instigator.
"There had been an argument in the nightclub and it was all fairly unladylike," he said.
"Beer had been tipped over Miss Slemp and then the injured party had come across and asked why an argument had broken out. At that point a consensual fight started between two ladies who had too much to drink.
"Miss Slemp feels hard done by that no action was taken on the evening and the matter seemed to be put to rest.
"It wasn't until two months after the incident that one officer had knowledge of the case and something clicked in his mind that she was involved in the CCTV video."
Slemp was given an 80-hour community punishment order with £55 costs.
