AS with many of his team-mates, Harriers left-back Scott Stamps admits he has been disappointed with his first season for the club in the Football League.

Stamps, one of the key players in the Conference-winning campaign, is no stranger to professional football - he has played for Torquay and Colchester.

Some of his earlier career was hit by injury and hamstring trouble has restricted Stamps' recent efforts though he has made 35 appearances.

But his latest game was curtailed by a red card with Stamps' frustration boiling over as he felt he was being fouled in an Exeter attack.

He admitted: "I was sent off for repeated foul and abusive language.

"Earlier, we thought John Durnin had got a penalty in the final few minutes. He was being tugged down."

The tough-tackling full-back continued: "Personally, I haven't been happy with my season, injury-wise plus my performances. I don't think I've been doing what I can do.

"I thought from last season I would just carry it on but I will have to put it right in training sessions.

"The confidence is a bit low in the squad but we still have a good spirit in the team. The lads are sticking together and we hope to get a few wins.

"We've had a bad run and the bottom of the table is always in your mind, especially when Carlisle are winning a few now."

And Stamps was frustrated with two early goals conceded against Exeter.

He added: "They were two sloppy goals in the first 20 minutes. We had a battle on our hands.

"It seems it takes us a goal down before we start playing. We had a talking-to at half-time, rolled our sleeves up and I thought we created even more chances.

"We had pressure on them but we have to start hitting the target.

"Against Shrewsbury on Saturday, we can play a bit of football on our pitch."
