DEJECTED Harriers midfielder Paul Webb has been with the club for more than six years so Saturday's 5-1 defeat at Blackpool will have been particularly painful.

Transfer-listed Webb, 33, has returned to the first 11 for the last few games and seen Harriers concede an astonishing nine goals in two games.

Webb admitted: "You can take a lot of negatives out of the match but sometimes it takes something like this for a few home truths to come out. That's what will happen.

"It was a very disappointing second half because when we were 2-1 down, we had a better 15 minutes.

"But we just caved in and kept giving the ball away. It was suicidal. Blackpool were very strong and impressive.

"They have two of the best strikers in the league and they looked it. We have to try and bounce back, the games are coming thick and fast."

For Webb, it has been good to return to the side after he signed a two-year deal in pre-season and quit his job as a warehouse manager to try out life as a professional footballer.

No-one could deny it was well deserved after Webb had long been one of the most consistent players in the Conference and an England semi-professional regular.

He said: "It's nice to be back involved in the side and I am enjoying it. It's about getting used to the pace again after being out for so long.

"I have to carry on working hard because I want to stay here.

"It was disappointing to be put on the transfer list but the gaffer has to make these decisions. Hopefully, I will keep my place in the side."
