6 MY father farms in mid-Wales and has just had his sheep destroyed.
Does Vikki Watkins realise it takes decades to build up a herd of pedigrees and not all these animals are destined for the abattoir - milking cows, rare breeds, breeding stock, to mention a few?
In mid-Wales, a farm had a case of one animal with foot-and-mouth.
The outcome was that every farm within a two-mile radius had its stock destroyed.
These animals included Welsh Blacks, Radnorshire sheep and Suffolks, breeds that have taken decades to build up.
I wonder if the general public realise stock cannot be reintroduced for six months on a farm that has had its stock destroyed.
