CECIL Duckworth has ruled out a takeover bid for Wasps after the Zurich Premiership club's financial future was secured.
Worcester Rugby Club's benefactor made an inquiry over the club last week but after a rescue package was put together by former owner Chris Wright, Duckworth has admitted defeat in his latest bid to buy into the top flight.
The club were bought in a multi-million pound deal by London Wasps Holdings Ltd, a company who are backed by Wright.
The buy-out followed an eventful week at the club after Loftus Road PLC, Wright's company who also own QPR, called in the administrators as they were losing a reported half a million pounds per month.
That sparked interest from Duckworth who, similarly to last year's interest in Sale, was set to bid for the club and take Worcester through the back-door route to the Premiership.
He said: "We made an inquiry and certainly it was something I was interested in. However, that avenue would appear to be closed now.
"We will have to reach the Premiership by conventional means but that is fine -- this season is not over yet.
"Leeds have still to win all their games and they have a tough schedule coming up.
"It's not all over until the fat lady sings!"
