AN arsonist who torched an elderly woman's home in Cutnall Green may have targeted the wrong house.
The pensioner lives in the Elmley Close area of the village near the home of convicted paedophile Ronald Green's brother, and there are concerns the arson attack may have been intended for his house.
Police confirmed today that it was one of the lines of enquiry they were following but stressed that investigations were still continuing and renewed their appeal for witnesses to come forward.
Jailed
Villagers mounted a furious protest last year after Green was sent to live with his brother in the village, near Droitwich, while awaiting sentence for sexually abusing a boy of 10. He was jailed for two years last June for the offences.
Police investigating the fire at the pensioner's home in the early hours of Sunday morning said an "incendiary device" had been placed against the front door.
The woman, who does not want to be named, had been asleep at the time but heard her letterbox rattle and her security light go on around 1.30am.
She got up to investigate but smelled smoke and contacted her neighbour who put out the blaze before it spread to the hallway.
Anyone with any information should contact the police on 01905 723888.
