THE cricket season is finally upon us -- but the continued wet weather put paid to the first fixture of season when Bromsgrove Cricket Club were due to take on Droitwich.
The eagerly awaited local derby was set to be the curtain raiser as both teams look forward to an important season.
With the merging of the Birmingham League Division Two and the Worcester league, Droitwich have the chance to get promoted back towards the big time. And Bromsgrove themselves will be hoping to clinch one of the two promotion spots up for grabs.
All-rounder Nick Davies has been selected to represent Herefordshire in the revamped minor county championship they have extended to three-day cricket this season.
Davies is in the team to play against Worcestershire and then Lancashire at Old Trafford in the pre-season friendlies.
l With Saturday's game likely to be off, Bromsgrove are asking all players who were available for the fixture to attend the ground at 12pm to finish off all the maintenance ready for the weeks ahead.
