IN the Bromsgrove and Redditch Table Tennis league last week, both the two top teams had comfortable 10-0 victories.
Lickey Monarchs, who were without their captain Martin Clark, beat Newton Works B, who included the veteran Roger Colley in their line up. The other 10-0 winners were second in the league Newton Works A, who beat Droitwich A.
Hillcrest A went down 7-3 at home to Himbleton A. Adam Throssell and Steve Nicholls both won their three games for Himbleton while Margaret Buxton, Arthur Bartram and Alan McLoughlin got one each for Hillcrest.
SPSP also went down 7-3 at home to Astwood Bank. Jim Connors and Dave Wood were undefeated for the Bank and teamed up to win the doubles. For SPSP, Sam Lloyd, Phil Govier and Lester Winterbourne got one each.
In Division Two, three games were rather one-sided. Barnt Green Hornets beat Droitwich C 10-0, while Barnt Green Tennis Club beat Newton Works 9-1, and Hillcrest B beat Droitwich B by the same score.
The only close game was between Lickey Panthers and Studley Road Terriers, Panthers winning 6-4.
Geoff Unitt starred for Panthers, winning his three games, with John Dale getting two wins and Lynn Davies one. For Studley Road, Peter Hartles won two and John Dignam one.
Peter and John then beat Geoff and John in the doubles.
