BROMSGROVE already knew promotion was out of the window this season after Bournville won the title.
Disappointed, but still determined to give a strong performance in the last league match, Bromsgrove went out to undermine their opponents. With the pressure off, a more relaxed town team created many innovative moves and goal scoring opportunities from the first whistle.
Christine Ashworth led the way with a number of penetrating runs down the left flank, stopping only to flick the ball inside the goal mouth.
Claire Brookes also took an attacking stance and engineered several penalty corners, with Bromsgrove being unlucky to score from the smallest of margins.
However, in true end-to-end hockey style, there remained plenty of defending to do from the odd Harborne attack. Ang Gibson deflected much of this with a combination of speed, endurance and jab tackling.
Co-conspirator Justine Postpones simply obstructed play with the odd stick tackle. Meanwhile, player of the match Becky Southwell proved her weight in gold by marking her player out of the game despite some heckling from the side of the pitch.
A 2-1 win was easily achieved, and although Bournville were the better team in the league, Bromsgrove hope they may have another bite at the cherry next season.
