YOUNG soccer talent battled it out on the football pitch at Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre last week.
Twelve girls teams from the Wychavon district's middle schools competed for a place at the county-wide youth games, organised by Wychavon District Council.
Boys and girls from first schools across the district also showed their soccer skills at St Barnabas First School, Drakes Broughton, near Pershore. Fourteen teams battled it out for the title of district champions, between 1pm and 4pm.
The tournaments are the culmination of an after-school programme promoted by Wychavon's Sports Develop-ment Team to encourage youngsters to play football.
The council's youth sports development officer, Steve Brewster, said: "We have seen the emergence of some very interesting football talent and the tournaments were good fun."
