CANAL camps will set up in Droitwich Spa to support the major restoration work on the town's landlocked waterways.
The Waterway Recovery Group organises the camps which allow people to spend an outdoor holiday working on the canals.
This year, six camps are being planned in Droitwich. Volunteers aged from 17 to 70 will carry out brickwork, stonework, ironwork and woodwork.
The holidays are free for helpers, although they are asked to contribute £5 per day towards meals and accommodation.
A Waterway Recovery Group spokesman said: "This is a really exciting time for canal restoration and we are making great progress.
"One of our projects this year is to provide the labour force for a £100,000 restoration of three locks on the Droitwich canals."
The average camp runs for seven days. Three meals per day are provided and most accommodation is in sports centres, schools or village halls.
There are more than 20 locations across the country where canal camps take place.
The holiday provides the necessary qualification for the residential section of the Gold Duke of Edinburgh award and other similar awards schemes. For details, call Canal Camps on 01923 711114.
