FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire at Droitwich Spa Hospital on Thursday night.
Two engines from the town tackled flames on the building's first floor at 10.50pm.
A brigade spokesman said: "The floor was smoke logged and patients were evacuated to a safe part of the building."
The crews were at the hospital, off Heritage Way, until midnight.
The hospital's executive director, Michael Scott, told the Advertiser the incident was caused by a paper fire but he did not know how it started.
He added: "There has been no damage to the building and the fire brigade complimented us on our our emergency procedure."
