DROITWICH did not disgrace themselves on Sunday, despite going down to Midlands Division One outfit Hereford.

Droitwich were determined to take the game to the home side, and did just that, but found possession difficult to hold on to.

It was from one such turnover that Hereford seized on an opportunity, and some poor tackling allowed them to score.

Hereford added a penalty shortly afterwards, before Matt Blackmore got one for the Division Four side.

Just before half time, fly half Simon Mountjoy was unlucky to have a kick charged down for Hereford to score again.

In the second period Droitwich kept working with Jon Andrews and Ashley Perry running the ball back at the opposition.

Pressure

Concerted pressure led to Droitwich being awarded a penalty try after Matt Blackmore was tackled late after putting through a clever kick.

Hereford came back though, and put the game beyond doubt with another converted try.

Droitwich can certainly feel that they did their club proud with a battling display in which they refused to buckle under the pressure.

Hereford's players had the benefit of sheer physical size on their side, but the famous Droitwich spirit was always in evidence.

Many sides higher up the leagues than the Spa side have gone to Wyesides and struggled.
