THE youth games have arrived at last, with the Worcestershire area games being held in Droitwich on Sunday May 20.
This year the Bromsgrove district will enter boys and girls teams in six sports which are: under-13 basketball, under-12 hockey, under-14 and under-12 girls football, under-13 and under-11 netball, under-14 girls tag rugby and under-11 mixed tag rugby, under-13 and under-10 mixed tennis.
Starting this week are opportunities for local youngsters to win selection into one of the squads and benefit from free coaching sessions.
Bromsgrove District Council sports development officer Joanne Bevan said; "The youth games are set to be one of the biggest youth sport events in the country -- we are excited to be taking part again and are looking forward to the Worcestershire games."
Dates are as follows: Basketball: boys and girls, April 9, 23 and 30, 6pm-7pm, Ryland Centre. Year eight and below.
Hockey: boys and girls, April 24, May 1, 8, and 15, 3.45pm-4.45pm, Parkside Middle School. Year seven and below.
Football: girls, April 25, May 2, 9 and 16, 6.30pm-8pm, Bromsgrove School astro turf. Under-14 - Year nine and below.
Netball: girls, April 18, 5pm-6pm (U11), 6pm-7.30pm (U13), Ryland Centre. U13 - Year eight and below. U11 - Year six and below.
