THROUGH your newspaper, I want to thank those volunteers who turned up on Saturday March 31 and made a huge difference in clearing up the discarded rubbish on both the Recreation Ground, in Rubery, and Brook Road Recreation Ground.
Unfortunately, some people who later phoned me had not seen the news item in the Advertiser/Messenger. Don't worry, we'll repeat this voluntary event in September.
Phone me on 0121 453 4814 if you want to get involved in keeping your community clean and tidy.
Another area of concern is the amount of dog fouling seen by volunteers while picking up the litter. Some residents tell me this is occurring regularly.
I would say to these offenders: we will be watching you and the financial penalties are not light. You have been warned.
Cllr D McGrath,
Beacon ward,
Bromsgrove District Council.
