A MIDDLE-AGED couple enjoying a Sunday afternoon stroll could hold the key to a £500,000 arson investigation.
Bromsgrove police are looking for a couple, in their fifties, who were spotted walking along Sherwood Road, in Aston Fields, when a blaze broke out at BHA Packaging.
Three men were seen leaving the premises moments before the large storage unit went up in flames at around 3.20pm, on Sunday April 1.
DC Roger Powell told the Advertiser/Messenger: "We are trying to identify the couple to see if they saw anything.
"We are hopeful of identifying the three youths and I would appeal for them, in their own interests, to come forward and give us their account of what occurred.
"This fire has caused more than £500,000 worth of damage."
It took 75 firefighters more than three hours to bring it under control and fire crews were still at the scene last Thursday, dampening down hundreds of bales of smouldering paper.
Anyone with information is being urged to contact DS Kelvin Price or DC Roger Powell on (01527) 584888 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
