BROMSGROVE GP and Lockerbie campaigner Jim Swire was set to be honoured yesterday as an 'Oldie of the Year.'
The retired town doctor whose daughter Flora was killed when the Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed out of the skies in 1998 was one of several older people to be nominated at the London ceremony organised by Oldie magazine.
He has campaigned tirelessly to bring the bombers to justice and in February one of the accused was sentenced to life imprisonment.
Mr Swire's quest included travels to Libya to make sure the trial went ahead and even when the verdict was announced he vowed to call for a public inquiry into the incident.
Bromsgrove District Council leader Nick Psirides (Con, Norton) said the GP had earned the respect of the town.
He added: "He has been very much a local character and I'm very pleased he has been nominated for this award."
