PATRIOTIC men and women from Bromsgrove are being called upon to help celebrate their patron saint on St George's Day.
The International Wine and Food Society's heart of England branch, which covers the town, is organising a celebratory dinner at Burcot Village Hall, in Alcester Road, near Bromsgrove.
The evening will kick off with an English sparkling wine, followed by a four-course dinner.
Branch secretary Philippe Boucheron said: "Why don't the English celebrate their patron saint's day with the same enthusiasm as the Irish do St Patrick's, the Scots St Andrew's, or the Welsh St David's?
"We are determined not to let St George's Day, on Monday April 23, go unmarked."
Tickets for the event, at 7.30pm, are £30 for members and £35 for guests.
