I WAS sorry to learn of the sad passing of Bert Pfuell when reading of his funeral in the Shuttle.
I would have liked to have offered my respects.
Bert was a real character of Kidderminster.
I saw a great deal of him while I worked with the district council, especially during my time as chief executive.
He fulfilled his role with such enthusiasm and dignity.
Recognised everywhere, he was a real credit to his town.
After his retirement I would meet Bert "holding court" in the caf area in the Rowland Hill Centre.
He always greeted you with such warmth.
Bert joins that list of local personalities who are no longer with us, like Ray Mercer, Harry Purcell and Brian Mole, who brought so much colour to local civic life.
Each one is remembered with affection.
