Break-a-Leg Theatre Group Cabaret
THERE'S no real substitute for live entertainment and this was certainly proven at Bridley Moor High School from April 4-7, writes Jane Maries.
Nearly 200 youngsters from music, movement and drama groups, ranging in age from four to 24, provided a banquet of talent that made toes tap and hearts sing.
Ranging from classical Bach and ballet to a scooter dance to Stevie Wonder's Superstition, sketches from South Pacific and Thunderbirds, there seemed to be no end to the energy and emotion pumped into the performances.
Dance routines revealed imagination, talent and determination from both performers and directors, as well as a sense of humour in a highly amusing version of Swan Lake (eat your heart out Dawn French!)
Sometimes it is difficult to pinpoint what it is that makes a show great, but in this case it is easy - a combination of irrepressible enthusiasm from all involved and a desire to entertain.
