AN evening of entertainment and gastronomy is promised at the end of the month, as part of the Malvern May Day celebrations.
On Sunday April 29, Malvern Fringe Arts will stage a concert at the Grove on Avenue Road. Appearing will be soprano Sue Black, who is known across the West Midlands for her many appearances in opera and concert productions. Joining her will be baritone Tim Cranmore and Andrew Morris on piano.
The programme is a varied one, covering vocal solos and duets from the 16th to the 20th Century, including works by Purcell, Mozart, Gilbert and Sullivan, Flanders and Swann and Gershwin.
To complement the music, Fran Victory, proprietor of the Passionata restaurant at Great Malvern Station, will supply wine and canaps.
The evening takes place in the drawing room at the Grove, 8 Avenue Road, and will feature their newly-restored Bechstein grand piano. The event is limited to 40 places and organisers are advising early bookings.
Tickets are £15, including all refreshments, available from the Malvern Tourist Information Office or from Tim Cranmore on 01684 563313.
