FRUSTRATED residents of Great Alne are calling for something to be done about the flooding misery which has been plaguing the village for months.
Last week, a woman was trapped in her car by flooding and she had to be rescued from her vehicle by three workers from Biffa Waste Services.
District and County Councillor Susan Juned said it had become a completely unacceptable situation.
Mrs Juned and Councillor Sheila Ribbans claim they have been writing to the county council and also the Woodland Trust, which owns the area of land, asking them to do something about the situation since November, but nothing has yet been done.
Mrs Juned said: "This flooding is becoming a regular occurrence and is very severe. Despite asking the county council to do something about it and explaining how bad the situation is, nothing has been done."
A county council spokesman said: "There is nothing wrong with the highway drainage system which is the county council's responsibility.
"The problem lies with a culvert underneath the disused railway line where there is obviously some form of blockage, but this area of land is owned by the Woodland Trust.
"The district council has served a notice on the trust which has agreed to do the work shortly but unfortunately in the meantime, there has been a downpour which has caused these problems."
