THE sky's the limit for a well-known Worcester businessman who aims to raise thousands for a cancer charity by tackling his worst fear - heights!
Dave Collins, from St John's, plans to do a parachute jump, wing-walk or a bungee jump to raise money for the Imperial Cancer Research Fund after successfully fighting throat cancer.
He is also hoping to raise money for the Cheltenham Hospital Cancer Centre, where he underwent treatment, and is asking Evening News readers to help him decide which daring stunt to carry out.
"I really don't like heights at all," said Mr Collins, who owns Dave Collins Engineering in Fern Road, St John's.
"But I was really grateful for all the help I received while I was fighting cancer and wanted to show my gratitude. I felt it was time to put something back for other people who are suffering from cancer."
Mr Collins, aged 57, was first diagnosed with throat cancer 12 months ago and says it was thanks to his wife Marylin that the disease was caught so quickly.
"I had an earache and sore throat and Marylin bullied me into going to the doctor. It was then they discovered a tumour," he said.
"She's acted as a taxi driver taking me backwards and forwards to Cheltenham for radiotherapy over the last few weeks and I've just been given the all clear.
"The hospital was fantastic and I'm hoping to raise as much money as possible to go towards the hospital and into cancer research.
"I did a tower jump 15 years ago, but I've never tried to raise a large amount of money before so I'm game for anything. I'm open to suggestions about whether to do a bungee jump, parachute jump or wing-walk."
Mr Collins has not yet decided on a definite date for the challenge but hopes to carry it out within the next few months.
