MATHON, Cradley & Storridge Tennis Club completed their winter league campaign with two victories last week.

The Men's B team defeated Manor Park to finish in second place in Division Five whilst the Whitecross Floodlight League team had a comfortable 4-0 victory over Hay-on-Wye to finish first or second in the league depending on the result of Madley's final match of the season.

The Men's A team recorded two wins, two draws and one defeat to finish fourth whilst the Ladies A won two, drew two and lost two to finish in mid table.

The Ladies B team had a disappointing season winning two and losing four matches.

The Mixed team are hoping for promotion after winning three and drawing two matches and the Manor Park Indoor team finished in the lower half of what proved to be the strongest league yet of this very competitive and enjoyable competition.

The summer league season starts at the beginning of May and sees the Men's A team in Division Three for the first time ever.

This will see them up against the largest and strongest clubs in the county and will be a severe test of the club's progress in recent years.

The influx of new members last year strengthened the club enormously and they will be hoping to attract more new players for the coming season.

The Men's B team who also won promotion last year will be in a very competitive Division Four, which will test the clubs strength in depth.

The Ladies team will be looking to emulate the men's success of last year and will again be hoping to strengthen their squads.
