COUNCIL officers are baffled by the strange case of the double yellow lines that should not exist.
The lines outside the Railway Inn in Station Road, Studley, should never have been painted and Warwickshire County Council officers can find no record of a traffic order to that effect.
Studley Parish Council has promised to look into the case but parish councillors agreed the lines had been there as long as they could remember.
Parish council clerk Dot Mitchell said she would check the records to see if there was any notice of when and why the lines were painted.
But she said it was likely the lines would have to be removed.
Meanwhile, new double yellow lines are to be painted along a 65-metre stretch of the west side of the A435 Alcester Road north of Spernal Ash junction.
