ALMOST £2 million is to be spent upgrading and improving Redditch town centre multi-storey car parks.
Kingfisher Centre owners Thornfield have revealed plans to transform the car parks over the next two to three years.
The revamp comes alongside a £60 million facelift of the centre which will see the introduction of department store giant Debenhams.
Tim Rylance, of Thornfield, said: "The money will be spent on decoration and repairs to the car parks. We will be looking at all sorts of things.
"We have to invest money in the car parks to upgrade them to be in line with the rest of the shopping centre."
Car Park 4 is currently being painted and improved but Mr Rylance said the cold weather had slowed things down.
He said: "The temperature is still so cold the paint hasn't dried."
Other options, such as erecting banners on the sides of the car park, are also being looked at.
Kingfisher Centre manager Phil Berry said: "The car parks need upgrading to bring them up to the standards the centre is being brought up to.
"There is some exciting work taking place in the centre with developments such as Debenhams and the car parks have to reflect the quality of the centre.
"Some car parks will have new lifts, they will be redecorated, lighting will be upgraded, some areas will be resurfaced and there will be some structural upgrading."
