TOWNSFOLK are being urged to get on their bikes to help push up funds to transform a house in Wythall into a base for homeless young people.
A charity bike ride will be held on Sunday, June 10, from Becketts Farm Shop, in Wythall, to Bala, in North Wales.
Wythall Millennium Project was set up between residents and charity Corner Stone in an attempt to create a home for youngsters who had been through the care system.
The whole project, which will help young people to live independently, will cost about £350,000 and the millennium project committee agreed to raise £50,000 of the target.
Fund-raising co-ordinator Dawn Sleet said: "We are doing really well and have raised £39,000.
"We are now looking for cyclists for another event on June 10, which we have called Ton Up For Charity.
"The ride will start at Becketts and go to Bala in North Wales. But once the riders arrive, they will have to take up a challenge. Corner Stone has an adventure centre there and people can do sailing, canoeing, abseiling, rock climbing or archery."
The rider who collects the most sponsorship will also win £500.
Mrs Sleet said: "We want the house we choose to be somewhere in the Wythall area and be for Wythall residents.
"In a sense, these young people are homeless because at 16 they come out of the care system but have no family, no protection and no home."
Anyone interested in taking part in the bike ride can call Mrs Sleet on 01564 823084.
