STUDLEY are bidding to go one better this year after missing out on promotion at the final hurdle last summer.

The Washford Fields side came within an ace of promotion to the Birmingham Senior League Division One, losing out on the final day.

And captain Mark Lewis is hoping to land a couple of new signings to bolster his side's promotion push.

"After last year we've got to go one better and push for promotion," said Lewis.

"I'm hoping to talk to a couple of people to strengthen the side, one is a bowler and the other is an all-rounder."

But yet another league reshuffle has assigned Studley to the Division Two East with arch rivals Redditch in the Western section.

After years in their neighbours' shadow Lewis said his side are on the up.

"They've definitely been trying to imitate us over the last few seasons after we spent years in their shadow in the Warwickshire League," added Lewis.

"We've got nothing to prove."

But wet weather has cast doubt on the pre-season friendly at home to Redditch on Saturday (1pm start).
