VILLAGERS' old jumpers could have a starring role in the latest Alvechurch Dramatic Society production Bazaar and Rummage.
The quirky play concerns a group of women who attempt to run a jumble sale but the problem is some of them, such as ex-variety songstress Katrina, obsessively clean Bell Bell and working class Margaret, are agoraphobic.
The society is appealing for donations of unwanted clothing to dress the set and is also staging an actual jumble sale on Sunday, April 29, which will allow the audience to buy any items they took a fancy to during the play.
Bazaar and Rummage, written by Adrian Mole creator Sue Townsend, follows the efforts of Gwenda, volunteer social worker and former agoraphobic to keep things in order, aided by the rather more resourceful Fliss.
Publicity officer Susan Resuggan said: "As the play centres around a jumble sale, we're going to need plenty of jumble and are planning a jumble sale on the Sunday.
"Anyone coming to see the play gets a ticket allowing them free early entry into the jumble sale.
"Bazaar and Rummage is a comedy drama which offers a real slice of life, with plenty of laughs as well as poignant drama as the reasons for the women's condition are gradually revealed.
"We do have to warn people, however, that the play contains strong language."
Bazaar and Rummage is being directed by Chris Stock and will run from Thursday, April 26, until Saturday, April 28, at Alvechurch Village Hall and performances start at 8pm.
Tickets cost £4 or £3 (concessions) from Alvechurch post office or 0121 447 7071.
To donate jumble, call David on 0121 445 4903 or Chris on 64988.
