BROMSGOVE completed their league programme in style on Saturday with a convincing victory over Old Laurentians.
Old Laurentians started the more positive of the two teams and early pressure in the Bromsgrove 22 metre area led to the Old L's fly-half kicking an early three points.
This, however, was just the wake up call that the Finstall Park outfit needed and persistent pressure led to Old L's conceding a penalty immediately in front of their posts, which was a gift for the relentless boot of Matt Birch.
Further points came from this pressure as a terrific rolling maul saw the Bromsgrove captain, Andy Bridge, get the first try of the match, which was superbly converted by Birch.
Bromsgrove were now in full stride and some great handling down the left hand flank saw Dave Wilkinson scramble over for Bromsgrove's second, making the half time scoreline 15-3 in Bromsgrove's favour.
Great handling
Bromsgrove started the second half as they finished the first and some great handling from the back division saw Ian Bailey stroll in untouched.
Old L's hadn't caught their breath when Steve Phillips crashed over from short range for another try.
The match was finished off in fine style when Richard Stockholm, making only his second appearance in senior rugby, dived over for a try. This, once again, was converted by Birch.
Bromsgrove, having now completed their compliment of league matches, can only
sit and wait to see if Luctonians falter in their final two matches.
They still have cup aspirations however, and take on Old Halesonians in the semi-final of the North Midlands Cup this Sunday.
