POLICE are appealing for information after six tonnes of metal worth thousands of pounds were stolen from a company in Ravensbank Drive.
The metal, in the form of aluminium planks, was taken from Hydro Aluminium in North Moons Moat Industrial Estate on Easter Sunday between 9.30 and 11.30am.
Thieves cut through two heavy duty padlocks and entered a secure yard from where they removed the planks, measuring nine ft by one ft, which were in a stack.
The planks, which slot together, are used to create temporary flooring at various events such as concerts and sporting events.
Although there are no distinguishing marks or features on the planks, police say owners would be able to recognise their products.
The metal is valued in the region of £6,000.
Redditch police believe a vehicle would have been needed to remove these planks and was a theft which took some time to carry out.
PC Gerry Smith said: "The thieves must have been on the premises for a considerable amount of time and Redditch police would like to hear from anybody who saw anything suspicious in the area."
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the police on 584888 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
