LORD Hertford, of Ragley Hall, Alcester, is leaving his English country garden to promote the stately homes of England to our American cousins.
On a 17-day whistle-stop tour of Canada and America, he will attempt to breathe some life back into Britain's flagging tourist industry.
In the 17 days, he will be visiting no less than 11 north American cities - ranging from Vancouver in Canada to Los Angeles on the west coast and the east coast metropolis of New York.
Lord Hertford, president of the Heart of England Tourist Board, will be hoping to persuade his audiences that they cannot "do England in two days."
"The main object is to get the American tourists away from the main centres like Oxford, London and Stratford and out into the Cotswolds where they can buy meals in the small pubs - something they cannot do back home," said Lord Hertford.
The tiring itinerary started off on April 13 with a visit to Toronto, then Vancouver, Seattle, Portland in Oregon, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Dallas, Houston (Texas) and New York.
He will arrive back in London on May 2.
Would the Marquess be mentioning Alcester and Ragley Hall?
"It would be impossible not to," he said.
