THE speaker at the April meeting was Lorna White, who gave a talk on her experiences on a troop ship to Singapore.
She had come at short notice because the speaker from the Blue Cross Animal Rescue charity was unable to attend because of the foot and mouth crisis.
However, the members' collection of gifts for the Rescue would be delivered.
New members are assured of a warm welcome and an interesting and enjoyable programme.
Meetings are held in Webheath Village Hall on the first Thursday of the month at 7.30pm.
However, because of local elections, the May and June meetings will take place on the first Wednesdays.
