THE profits are adding up for charity thanks to regulars who are digging deep into their pockets at a Bewdley pub.

Punters at the Hop Pole Inn are toasting Kemp Hospice each time they buy a drink by handing over coins which are then being stuck to the bar wall. Hop Pole Inn bar staff Rhea Gittins-Broughton and Kari Rigsby decorate the walls at the Bewdley pub which is coining it in for charity.

Once the wall is full the proceeds will be handed over to the Wyre Forest charity which helps people with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Landlord Terry Sowter, who has been at the Hop Pole Lane pub for two years, said the fund-raiser, which began before Christmas, had attracted the interest of hundreds of customers.

He said: "Everybody is really keen to fill the wall and any loose change normally ends up there for all to see.

"We have also held quiz nights and raffles for Kemp on a regular basis because we think it is such a worthwhile cause that deserves as much help as possible."

He added: "The next thing we will do is hold a competition to guess how much money is on the wall once it is completed, so things have spiralled along nicely really."
