NORTH Midlands Club officials have rescheduled the final of this season's county rugby cup for Sunday, May 20.

The final was due to be played on April 8 but it was postponed at an early stage because of a backlog of fixtures caused by bad weather during the winter and then the foot-and-mouth outbreak.

The organisers have pencilled in Stourbridge's Stourton ground as the venue and are confident that the two semi-finals will be completed before May 20.

The first delayed semi-final between Old Halesonians and Bromsgrove, cup winners in 1982, will be played at Wassell Grove on Sunday.

The other semi-final between Newport and Hereford will be played at Forton Road on either Saturday, May 12 or Sunday, May 13.

The tie had been in doubt because Newport's ground was closed for a month because it fell in a foot-and-mouth exclusion zone.

The restrictions were lifted last weekend, however, and Newport are optimistic that they will now be able to complete their outstanding fixtures.
