A CANOE club's quest for a new home is back on stream say Wyre Forest councillors.
The district council has given high priority to finding a new base for Wyre Forest Canoe Club.
The Bewdley-based club, on land between Bewdley High School and Wribbenhall Middle School, will not have its licence renewed because of security fears. Worcestershire County Council made the decision because schools have expressed fears of conflict of use and security.
District council officers have agreed in principle to the 100-member club moving to the Bewdley Leisure Centre site.
But Bewdley High School, which shares the leisure centre with the district council and county's youth service, has objected to the club's application as detrimental to existing facilities.
A report to last Thursday's policy and implementation committee said a better option may be to find an alternative site on the River Severn.
Council leader Mike Oborski told the meeting: "The club feel very strongly they were led to believe there was a preferred site.
"They have gone to the trouble and expense of planning permission. This should go ahead as a matter of urgency."
Leisure chief Andrew Dickens will take up the matter.
