COME on Mr Foster, (You Say, April 11), your Government can and will spin everything until we all get dizzy - but don't try it on in Worcester.

I never said anything about being a part-time MP. As he rightly said, being MP for Worcester is a 100 per cent full-time job. Of course, how that full-time commitment is applied is what voters will decide on.

My approach would be to represent everybody in the city, of whatever political persuasion, and champion their aspirations and fears at Westminster. Therefore, nobody need have any fear that I shall rubbish them if their views or protests do not accord with my thinking - neither would I claim sole credit for initiatives where I have contributed very little.

I have in mind Mr Foster's extravagant claims to have "delivered Worcester's new hospital".

So let us both be "up front", Mr Foster, but cut out the misleading half-truths and innuendo.

I believe his references to part-time representation came from my comments on Local Government.

Being a councillor is not, and should never be, a sole occupation. It does not pay enough for a start.

Mr Foster's own Government wishes to attract people from business and non public service backgrounds to enhance and enrich Local Government.

That's what I have done while still running my own business. Which I am proud to do.

It's a pity the Government does not say the same about Parliament, where many MPs, particularly in the Labour Party, have such narrow backgrounds that their ability to properly serve those they represent is virtually non-existent.
