WORCESTER MP Mike Foster has said he is delighted a city firm has been considered for a prestigious national award recognising excellence in industry.
The MP said it was great news that Worcester Heat Systems was one of the entrants for the Institute of Mechanical Engineers Awards, given to companies which display the most innovative ideas and business achievements.
The Institute aims to raise performance in the manufacturing industry by giving all entrants a free and confidential benchmark study which will be used to judge the companies.
Winner
The winner of the award, to be announced at a ceremony at London's Dorchester Hotel on Thursday, June 28, will receive £10,000.
"Worcester has a tradition of manufacturing excellence and it's wonderful news that a local company is being considered for these prestigious awards," said Mr Foster.
"Worcester Heat Systems should be congratulated for entering the competition. The awards offer companies the chance to demonstrate their excellence and get a welcome financial boost at the same time.
"I hope other local companies will apply for the awards in 2002."
