BIDFORD Twinning Association comes of age this year but is more interested in hearing from new members than having a party.
According to secretary Malcolm Dewsbury, the membership of the association, about to celebrate its 21st birthday, stands at an all-time low.
His wife, Anne, who is also a member, said: "Our number now stands at 20 family members.
"People have moved away from the area and this year we've had a massive publicity push."
She said that members had put leaflets through letterboxes and stuck posters around the village to try to attract new people.
Malcolm said: "It is a pity that in an expanding village like Bidford we are unable to attract any new members."
Bidford is twinned with an area of 13 German villages called Ebsdorfergrund, a place in Rheinhessen, which is half way between Frankfurt and Cologne.
The group has strong links with its German counterparts. Last year, members went there to celebrate 20 years of the association with a big party.
Anne said that even if no new members came forward as a result of the appeal, the association would never disband.
She added that the group had social activities such as skittles and cheese and wine evenings.
Anyone interested in joining the Association should go to the AGM at The Royal British Legion on April 20 at 7.30pm, or phone Mr Dewsbury on 01789 772667.
