World-renowned Worcester artist Paul Powis is pictured beneath one of the paintings in his exhibition which opens near the city tomorrow.
Mr Powis' "energetic and vivacious" landscapes will be on show at the Foal Yard Gallery in Bransford.
The artist has exhibited at museums and art galleries throughout Britain and the US, including the Royal College of Art in London and the Museum of Modern Illustration in New York.
Gallery owner Jeremy Cornwell described Mr Powis' work, which leans towards abstraction, as "energetic and exciting".
"I'm not at all interested in detail, I like to attack my work with vigorous, almost violent marks," said Mr Powis, who is a senior lecturer in drawing and painting at the University of Central England in Birmingham.
Mr Powis received worldwide recognition when his painting Rape appeared in an advert for Volkswagen.
The exhibition runs until Saturday, June 2.
