IN the Worcester Evening News of April 5 Coun David Williams, our mayor, is quoted as saying: "...there were 340 people last night out of a population of 27,000 electors. If 27,000 voted against I would probably resign, but the parish poll turnout is normally seven or eight per cent."

What arrogance! He was voted in as a district councillor, and returned unopposed as a town councillor, with a voting percentage of 5.89 per cent of the eligible electorate, yet he wants all of us to vote against him before he will even consider standing down.

Quit while you are behind Mr Williams, I respectfully suggest that should more than the number who voted you on the district council vote for the poll in your ward on May 1, then you should go, and the same should apply to the rest of the councillors.

With regard to the unnecessary expenditure of this Council, why did we have to have a legal adviser from a Sunderland-based firm? I cannot fault the advice he gave, I learnt from it, but why couldn't a local solicitor be employed for the evening at a greatly reduced cost.

To all electors in the town, may I as a simple elector implore you to make sure you use your vote whichever way to ensure the Councillors have no problem in getting the message.
